"Que Mier...!": Rafael Palmeiro lies to the fans
By José Reyes 8/14/2005
This is for you, Rafael Palmeiro, Mr. " I have never knowingly used steroids,
period", you let the Cuban community down, you let the Latin community
down, I hope you're proud of what you have done, "Que Mierda". It is
incredibly coincidental how the latest news about
Palmeiro's failed steroid test arrived
just when I was on the verge of publishing an article praising him
and rectifying all the reasons why he should be included in the hall of
fame. Well, I don't think so, you see Baseball is the one sport that is
measured by numbers compiled and big numbers are essential in order to be
considered a hall of famer. He played too many games, hit too many homeruns
and too many hits during the steroid era. Steroids make you stronger and increases your
bat speed, thus what would be deep fly out to the outfield would be a homerun,
that is unfair. Experts claim that steroids even improve hand to eye coordination, so
why should he be placed with all the baseball greats of the past? In my book he's just a
"Cheater" and a "Phony". It hurts for me to say that, being
a Cuban-American myself but it's true.
I stand my ground in this instance and no
one will change my mind. I guess it's all about the money, for them, not about
the sport and we the fans are definitely a big part of the sport. Well, if you
disagree about my contradiction concerning his chances of making the hall of fame, I
will try to make it easier for you to understand. Let's take a good look at the steroid he tested positive
for. The name of the steroid is Stanozolol (Winstrol) and it is very
powerful! Read about it and learn how steroids work in general, also learn more
about how you can actually obtain them through the internet and remember steroids are
illegal, over the counter, in the United States.

This is the
example Rafael Palmeiro
gives to our youth, to all our Latin youth. He should
have been suspended for at least 1 year to show some kind of example. Major
League Baseball should be ashamed of the rampant steroid use that occurred in
the past and is occurring
at the present time but unfortunately, I'm not hearing anything from the fans at
all. The
fans should be more responsible and more vocal or should we just split major league baseball
into 2 separate leagues, "The Steroid League" and "The Official
Major League" so the fans can choose which one to follow. This way the fans
who think it's cool to take steroids can have there own "Phony"
league. The penalty for
using steroids to enhance performance in baseball or any other sport in general,
should be severe. The suspension period for violating the steroid policy for the
first time should be 1 year, not a ridiculous 10 days. Who are they kidding?
When will Major League Baseball clean up there act? Time is running out, at
least for me it is.
